Ingredients:
1.5 cup Split Red Gram(Tuvar Dal)
1 tbsp cumin seeds(Jeera)
0.5 tbsp Turmeric powder(Haladara pavadara)
2 tbsp of Oil
0.5 tbsp Fenugreek seeds(Methina dana)
0.5 tbsp Mustard Seeds(Rai)
0.5 tbsp Asafoetida(Hinga)
1 medium to large chopped carrot or Potato slices
1 medium to large onion slices
1 cup of soaked Tamarind(Amli)
1 tbsp Coriander and Cumin Powder(Dhana Jeeru Powder)
1 tbsp Red chilli powder(Marchu)
1.5 tbsp of Sambar Masala Powder
Required amount of water and salt
Steps for Procedure:
1.Take a soaked Split Red Gram(Tuvar Dal) in a pressure cooker and add tomato, brinjal, cumin seeds(Jeera), Turmeric powder(Haladara pavadara) and required amount of water. Let it cooked for 3-4 whisels.2.Then crush the above mixture with the help of hand grinder.
3.Take oil in a pan and heat it for low flame.
4.Then addFenugreek seeds(Methina dana), Mustard Seeds(Rai), Asafoetida(Hinga) heat it until it crackles.
5.Add chopped carrot, sliced onion.
6.Let it heat until onion and carrot gets cooked.
7.Then add Sambhar Powder.
9.Add red chilli powder, Coriander and Cumin Powder(Dhana Jeeru Powder), salt as per requirement.
10.At last, add 1 cup of Tamarind(Amli) water(crush Amli with hands and add only water part).
11.Let, it heat for 5-10 mins in low flame.
12.You can serve hot sambhar with Plain Rice or Dosa or Idle.
Note:
1.Add Tamarind(Amli) water as per your taste.
2.Add water as per your required consistency(Thickness).
