South Indian Rice Parpu Sapad

Servings: 5 people




Ingredients:

0.5 tbsp Mustard Seeds(Rai)
1 tbsp Cumin Seeds(Jeeru)
0.5 tbsp Asafoetida(Hinga)
5-10 curry leaves
0.5 tbsp Turmeric powder(Hardhar)
2 tbsp of Oil
2.5 tbsp Red chilli powder(Marchu)
1 tbsp Coriander and Cumin Powder(Dhana Jeeru Powder)
0.5 tbsp of garlic paste(Lasana)
1 medium to large chopped tomatoes and onions
2 Red Chilli's(sukka marcha)
1 cup rice(Chokha)
1/4 cup Split Red Gram(Tuvar Dal)
1.5 tbsp of ghee
Required amount of water and salt


Steps for Procedure:
1.Put the oil in a pressure cooker and Heat it in a low flame.
2.Then add Mustard Seeds(Rai), Cumin Seeds(Jeeru), Asafoetida(Hinga) and Turmeric
powder(Hardhar) heat it until it Crackles.

3.Add curry leaves, red chilli's, garlic paste and heat it for few seconds.


4.Add chopped tomatoes and onions to it and heat it until it gets cooked, then add Red chilli powder(Marchu), Coriander and Cumin Powder(Dhana Jeeru Powder) and salt. 

                      
5.At last add soaked Split Red Gram(Tuvar Dal) and rice(Chokha) with required amount of water.



6.Before closing pressure cooker add ghee.



Serve hot PARPUSAPAD.


Note:
It can be served with curd as well. It is optional. I prefer Without curd.
